SEarch Policies and PROCEDURES

Search Policy

T1 Security adhere to the following search policy but are always happy to discuss any specific requirements with our clients.

The security supervisor for the entrance ensures the crowd flow rate is maintained but the agreed searching procedure is not compromised. Any person found with Contraband Goods must surrender the items before being granted access. They may be issued with a cloakroom ticket in order to reclaim their items on egress. Any person found with Prohibited Articles may be refused entry and handed to the police if appropriate.

The following list of property is deemed to be

‘Contraband Goods’:

  • Excessive amounts of cigarettes (any amount over personal use for the duration of the Event)
  • Alcohol, soft drinks, beverages
  • Glass containers / bottles
  • Paint pens, spray paint or similar
  • Flares; such as emergency or distress flares manufactured for legitimate military, maritime or transport purposes (under any circumstances)
  • Smoke Bombs
  • Fireworks, including sparklers
  • Lasers / Laser Pens
  • All animals (except registered Guide Dogs)

The following list of property is deemed to be

‘Prohibited Articles’: –

  • Illegal drugs
  • All substances defined as a ‘Psychoactive Substance’ under the new Psychoactive Substances Act 2016. These substances will be those substances previously referred to as ‘Legal Highs’ and will include herbal materials, powders, tablets, crystalline substances, gas or liquids and may be packaged and marked as ‘smoking materials’, ‘research chemicals’, ‘room deodorisers’, ‘herbal incense’ and ‘cream chargers’, some may even state the product is not for ‘human consumption’
  • Nitrous Oxide (‘Noz’) in any form
  • Alkyl Nitrates (otherwise known as Poppers)
  • Knives
  • Weapons and potential weapons; anything adapted for such a purpose
  • Any object that security considers to be potentially harmful to public safety, being a single item or a potential component part for another object.
  • Forged tickets and wristbands or an access pass of any description.
 
CONFISCATIONS

Security personnel will seize any banned goods detected during a search. They have the ability to seize any thing that they believe is injurious, destructive, hazardous, or illegal, regardless of where it is found. Items found to be illegal will be placed in a lockable receptacle box and handed over to the police. No receipts will be issued for any confiscated or surrendered items. You may be searched when you enter and exit the festival grounds.

BANNED ITEMS ARE GIVEN UP

Certain goods will not be allowed on our property for safety reasons, but are generally legal elsewhere. These products will be listed as prohibited on our site’s ticket and admission criteria. You must surrender these goods if you bring them to the site. There will be no receipts issued, and the property will be destroyed or passed to the police. Please don’t bring them in the first place since you won’t get them back. 

EVICTIONS POLICY

These events are organised for the benefit of all guests, and security personnel are responsible for ensuring the safety and happiness of all attendees.

Each festival’s permit is granted subject to tight attendance and public safety requirements, as well as the avoidance of disruption and public nuisance. Anyone who interrupts the festival in any of the sections below risks being ejected from the premises. Following input from festival security staff, the Eviction Manager will make the eviction decision, which will be line managed by the Security Co-ordinator.

The following situations will result in eviction:

  • entering or being onsite without a ticket or relevant pass/ wristband
  • unacceptable, disruptive or anti-social behaviour as listed below
  • having been arrested or cautioned in connection with a criminal offence, pending or post hand-over to the Police

Unacceptable behaviour that can lead to eviction includes:

  • illegal activity;
  • breaching the terms and conditions of entry;
  • failing to submit to a search upon entry to the site;
  • offensive behaviour;
  • throwing hard objects in the direction of people;
  • encouraging others to behave badly by incitement;
  • preventing our security or emergency services reacting to a situation;
  • taking tents with the intent of burning them;
  • throwing gas canisters onto fires;
  • building or fuelling large bonfires;
  • committing a criminal offence but not arrested by the police;
  • found in possession of unlawful drugs;
  • unofficially selling alcohol, tobacco, counterfeit or any unauthorised goods
  • ticket touting;
  • any other behaviour that leaves the Festival Director open to prosecution or is not conducive to maintaining a safe environment or event

DUTY OF CARE

The Security Manager will conduct an assessment to determine that the person in issue is fit for eviction and not susceptible due to age or inebriation. If they are not deemed safe, they will be allowed to remain at the welfare institution until further transportation can be arranged or their condition can be reevaluated. Without a suitable adult present, no person under the age of 18 will be expelled. Any minor must be picked up by a responsible adult in person. If they refuse to cooperate, Event Control must contact the police for assistance. All evicted persons’ information must be documented as soon as possible, and a log must be kept in Event Control. At the very least, the details must include: Name DOB the image (where possible) The reason for your eviction If the grounds for eviction was caused by an incident, an incident form must be filled out as soon as possible during the shift.

Working events is very different than working regular nightclub doors, which is why we’ve created this set of SOP’s and security plans to ensure that you get the most out of your experience and are fully prepared for anything that may arise.
